Elevating Community Mental Health

We offer low-cost and culturally sensitive mental health services to the Denver and surrounding communities. We provide individual, couple and family therapy to people of all ages and backgrounds. We also provide group therapy. We treat a diverse range of clients from immigrants and refugees to new and expecting parents. Our services are provided by master’s- or doctoral-level graduate students and supervised by licensed clinical professionals.

We have been a resource to the Denver Metro Area for over 40 years, and we are proud to contribute to the health and wellbeing of our community.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide comprehensive graduate-level education in Clinical Psychology, Forensic Psychology, International Disaster Psychology: Global Mental Health, Sport and Performance Psychology, and Sport Coaching. We promote scientifically based professional training for applied clinical work and do so in an environment of cooperation and collaboration that fosters critical thinking and self-determined functioning.

To fulfill our mission, we've established a set of educational goals.

Provide exposure to, and critical analysis of, the broad spectrum of perspectives on human behavior and development.
Provide experience with, and critical analysis of, the full range of clinical assessment and intervention strategies and techniques.
Provide exposure to a wide range of populations through the use of clinical training experiences.
Instill the highest standards of ethical and professional functioning into clinical thinking and practice.
Foster a deep, abiding respect for, and understanding of, the diversity of the human condition.
Instill an understanding of the application of scientific and experimental methods to clinical practice.
Prepare students to conduct and critically evaluate psychological research.
Promote a knowledge of, and appreciation for, the history of psychology and the ways in which it can enrich and be enriched by an interdisciplinary perspective.
Foster in professional psychologists a spirit of community responsibility and leadership.
Offer services that are made affordable to our community using a sliding scale so that we never need to turn a client away because of cost.

Our History

Since September 1976, the Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP) has offered a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) in Clinical Psychology, a degree that focuses on scientifically based training for applied professional work rather than on the more traditional academic-scientific approach to clinical training. Our main emphasis is on general clinical psychology with opportunities for some limited degrees of specialization.

Due to demand in the field for specialized mental health workers, we offers master's level training programs in three unique areas: forensic psychology, international disaster psychology, and sport and performance psychology. These programs combine general clinical training with specializations, and offer ample opportunity for students to apply their skills through field placements.
