Student & Academic Services Manager, Kinesiology
What I do
Kaela Walker joined DU in Fall 2023 as the Student & Academic Services Manager for Kinesiology & Sport Studies--a new position created for the first academic year of the major. Kaela is dedicated to helping KINE students successfully navigate their academic paths with clarity, self-sufficiency, and purpose. Her work includes creating inclusive, multimedia advising resources for students and faculty, as well as supporting recruitment efforts for prospective students and their families/loved ones.
Professional Biography
Kaela earned her MA in English Literature from CU Boulder while serving as the Managing Editor of the innovative literary journal English Language Notes. She previously earned her BA from Northwestern University with a major in Philosophy and double minors in Classics and Comparative Literature. She also studied abroad at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and completed a language intensive course in Attic Greek at UCLA. Before stepping into academic advising, she worked at a luxury antiques gallery as the Rare Books Specialist and graduated from the Colorado Antiquarian Books Seminar.
But Kaela hasn’t always been a complete bookworm. She was a Varsity cheerleader at NU, coached cheer teams at various levels from ages 5 through DI, and worked at a Pilates studio. She is also a die-hard hockey fan and a DU season ticket holder (Go Pios!). Outside of work, she enjoys painting, reformer Pilates, and spoiling her Ragdoll cat, Auden, who is named after a poet (because of course he is).
