Professional Biography
Marissa is a Mexica and Southwest Native first generation student. In her doctoral program, she is a scholar of the psychological components of colonialism, the interdependence of race and class, and internalized oppression for BIPOC. She has a strong passion to re-indigenize mental health practices for herself and her community and use her relational and liberatory-oriented approaches as a form of resistance to oppression and collective healing.
