A cancer diagnosis is one of the most psychologically challenging events a person can face, both for the patient themselves and their loved ones. The goal of the oncology psychology specialty is to train professionals who are able to provide outstanding psychological care to individuals whose lives are affected by cancer.

Partnerships with cancer centers across the state ensure our students are able to get real world training and put their developing skills to work. Many cancer centers struggle to meet the psychosocial needs of their patients—let alone their families—so students who pursue this specialty will be filling a desperately needed void.
