Minisode: COVID-19, Prisons and Smart Decarceration
Dr. Apryl Alexander on RadioEd
Welcome to our first RadioEd Minisode. In this bonus episode, we take a look at a hot spot for the coronavirus in the United States: prisons. For incarcerated individuals, social distancing remains nearly impossible, and so the virus is spreading rapidly through the prison system. Now, some politicians are calling for “smart decarceration.” We discuss what this means and how it affects local communities with University of Denver psychology professor Apryl Alexander.
